Position Overview

Legacy.com is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our Engineering department. Our Engineering team’s mission is to build and support the next generation of products, applications and services for the end-of-life and memorialization categories. Software Engineers at Legacy.com are responsible for building and supporting applications and platforms that power our online memorialization experience.

 

A Senior Software Engineer is a skilled developer that can efficiently write, review, test and deploy code. Senior Software Engineers are resourceful, they can draw on past experiences, know where to find answers or know how to start when iterating on a solution. A Senior Software Engineer is a resource that can guide other members of the Engineering team and collaborate with other members of the organization. A Senior Software Engineer can stitch together business strategy, applications, systems and infrastructure. A Senior Software Engineer can make thoughtful decisions independently but also lead a group to consensus on solutions and architectures. A Senior Software Engineer can partner across the organization to deliver high value solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Building and maintaining high-traffic web sites powered by JavaScript and React.
  • Leveraging test-driven development, the testing pyramid; using automation for tests, builds and deployment; implementing monitoring and logging proactively.
  • Crafting accessible and meaningful documentation for peers and collaborators.
  • Helping Engineering leadership craft optimal solutions to complex problems.
  • Collaborating with Product to craft technical solutions that meet strategic needs.
  • Providing guidance and mentoring to junior team members.
  • Participating in pairing sessions, code reviews, lightning talks, and researching things independently

Requirements

  • Experience programming in JavaScript, Python, Ruby or .NET.
  • Experience with front end frameworks like React, Angular or Vue.
  • Experience documenting your work for others.
  • Experience with the testing pyramid and test-driven development.
  • Experience using version control systems like Git or Mercurial.
  • Experience with domain driven design and microservices architectures.
  • Customer/user focused.
  • Demonstrated leadership, emotional intelligence, and empathy skills.
  • Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Accurate, with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as a member of a team.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize projects effectively.
  • Very high degree of integrity, honesty, and discretion.
